Open Championship 1949
Bobby Locke tied with Harry Bradshaw of Ireland on 283 after four rounds. Bradshaw's total could have been lower - rather than wait for a ruling, he played his ball where it lay in the rough at the fifth hole, which was inside a broken bottle of (apparently) Irish whiskey and dropped two unnecessary strokes.
The playoff over 36 holes was won easily by Locke.
